Facebook photos show drinking by Woodbury High students

Students at yet another metro-area high school face repercussions after photos pulled from the online site Facebook showed them drinking, according to a letter to be sent today to parents of Woodbury High School students.

At least 12 students were identified and four were given "some kind of consequence," principal Linda Plante wrote in the letter, which was released to the Star Tribune late Monday by Woodbury schools spokeswoman Barbara Brown.

Plante wrote that the pictures "were brought to our school on Friday." A student told WCCO TV that a senior used them in a health class presentation on student drinking.

The letter did not say what punishment the four students will face. School officials first contacted district lawyers and the Minnesota State High School League, which bans students in athletics and other extracurricular activities from drinking, the letter said.

Soldiers brave weather

Fifty-three Soldiers stood on the all-weather surface of the Macon R-1 High School track. Some jogged in place, others stretched out in their sweat pants and sweatshirts against the harsh January wind. For many, this would be the hardest part of the weekend."All right, line up!" shouted Sgt. Cody Fields, training instructor for the Missouri National Guard Company H. Against the wind, he called out the rules and requirements for the physical training test.A promotion was on the line, and for many, this was their final hurdle.

Health Department kick-starts immunization drive

ST. CROIX - The V.I. Health Department on Thursday announced the launching of its "Take Your Best Shot" campaign aimed at increasing local immunization rates among adolescents and encouraging adults to also get immunized for once common illness, some of which experts say are re-emerging.

Health Commissioner Vivian Ebbesen-Fludd said there had been talks in the past of boosting immunization among children ages 11 to 18, but those plans never got off the ground. Last month's outbreak of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, at a private school on St. Croix spurred the department in to action.

Health officials said Thursday that the Country Day School students who were infected with pertussis were mostly the older children who had not been immunized with the new vaccine.

Burress stands by his upset prediction

I didn't know people still had those after high school. Boston expects them to come back and celebrate. Maybe we'll have them come down and party with us."

When told of Burress' prediction, Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas just shrugged his shoulders.

"One thing I've learned this year more than anything else is none of that matters," Thomas said. "Nothing that you do in the press conference matters. The only thing that matters is how you play on Sunday."

Just 40 feet to Burress' left at media day, Giants coach Tom Coughlin didn't seem pleased about his receiver's comments.

"I was not aware of that," said Coughlin, shaking his head. "We've had a good theme all year, and it hasn't been that. We do our talking on the field."
