Adopt-a-Pet: Wolvie Needs Your Help! Save Email Print

Wolverine was left behind at a local vet's office with his head tilting completely to one side. He was taken to South Bend Animal Care and Control in July of 2007 as a very young kitten. Luckily, he found his way into a loving Paws ‘N Purrs with IMPACT foster home soon after.

Wolvie has had many vet visits in the last several months trying to determine the best course of care to end his discomfort. X-rays revealed that at one time he suffered a ruptured eardrum that has since been covered with scar tissue. Several rounds of antibiotics and steroids have been used to try to fight the lingering infection deep in the ear canal. The medications seem to help a little bit, but only for short periods of time.

Wolvie often has difficulty when eating and drinking his food as there is drainage into the back of his throat.

If you can't stay home, hit the road prepared

When roads are icy and treacherous, the best advice is to stay home if possible, a spokesman at PEMCO Insurance said Monday. But sometimes, heading out in a storm can't be helped.

Jon Osterberg, a spokesman for the Seattle-based insurance company, said it is best to be prepared for the worst, and to know when and how to safely abandon your car if you must.

Western Washington residents are more likely than drivers on the east side of the state to abandon their cars, he said. It isn't anything to be ashamed of, Seattle drivers don't get much practice driving in the snow, there are more hills, and the snow and roads are wetter and more slippery than on the dry side of the state.

"People from other places should cut us some slack," said Osterberg.

Sometimes the best course is to stop driving, pull over and call for help.

Maybe one of the greatest offenses, but not the best team. If Brady can't put up four TDs they will struggle to win, their defense will have a hard time keeping up with the G-Men. Good luck on the run game, Strahan, Umenyiora, Pierce, and Mitchell will be in effect. Take NYG and the points, you must have been blind or missed something in the SD game last Sunday. They struggled to win that one, and SD sucks! Go Giants!

Look at the matchups. Gints can score for sure on the Pats D. As for the Pats offense, Gints D can control them. The Packers were just supposed to destroy the Gints pass D but that didn't happen. If the Gints pass rush can get to Brady they may be able to pull it off. The Pats can't run the ball in this game and won't be able to.

Banking activity tells a tale in murder case

She last used her debit card at the Berkeley Bowl grocery store Sept. 3, 2006, Morasch said, the day she vanished after dropping off her children at Hans Reiser's Oakland hills home.

Her last Patelco check was dated Aug. 28, 2006, and was made out to Adventure Time, her children's after-school program at Joaquin Miller Elementary School, the auditor said. The account is now "dormant" and has a balance of about $4,500, Morasch said.

In the days and weeks before she disappeared, Nina Reiser registered her car with the state Department of Motor Vehicles, paid for her utilities and her next month's rent, Morasch said.

Hans Reiser's Patelco account, meanwhile, showed a dramatic increase in cash withdrawals after his wife disappeared, including one for $5,000 on Sept.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm's oratory should make a special point of tuning in tonight as she delivers her sixth State of the State address. It could be her last.

Speculation that Granholm might pull up stakes after 2008 and join a Hillary Clinton administration in Washington, D.C., has intensified in recent months as the presidential campaign season enters the late stages and Granholm nears the halfway point in her second and final term as governor.
