Alyonka and Diana Larionov, daughters of former Detroit Red Wings great Igor Larionov, didnt get any ice, er, vocal time on Tuesday nights American Idol, but it seems as if theyve made it through to the shows Hollywood round. The singing sisters, whove performed the National Anthem at hockey games, popped up for a few seconds at the end of Tuesday nights episode, during a montage of people from the auditions in Omaha, Neb., who nabbed golden tickets to Hollywood. .

The Bush presidency has been the worst in my lifetime.By pandering to the religious right, Bush came into office and proceeded to take our country from a surplus into the worst deficits our country has ever had. In a senseless, mismanaged war he has squandered lives and billions of dollars. While our country is facing the highest energy prices ever, he has done nothing to push us toward energy independence. As health care prices spiral out of control, he has enabled the drug companies to enrich themselves by prohibiting the federal government from negotiating for lower drug prices.Single-handedly, his administration has destroyed the United States' standing in the world by instituting torture as part of the American way of doing business.Bush has vetoed health care for the young while billions go up in flames in Iraq.As China and India come onto the stage to become major competitors in the world, Bush has done nothing to stem our trade deficits which now leave us vulnerable to the whims of the leadership of China.

Since moving to Corvallis five years ago, I continue to be amazed at the no-growth, anti-business attitude of local government and activists.The Whiteside Theatre is just one more example of the lunacy that has impacted or delayed Corvallis High School, Home Depot, Ninth Street retail development and multiple other projects in the city.It is highly unlikely Susan Morre and her "Friends of the Whiteside" group will ever present any economically viable plan for the theater. The Alcatel board is expected to discuss the terms of the deal which would value its US rival near its current market capitalisation of $13.7bn.
Patricia Russo, Lucent chief executive, and Serge Tchuruk, her counterpart at Alcatel, have agreed on many of the broad terms of the combination. The board would be evenly split between former Alcatel and former Lucent directors. Russo would take over as chief executive and the headquarters would remain in Paris.

The free channel will show environmental content from NGOs, governments, and companies N Power and Ben and Jerrys have submitted films. James Arthur, the channels producer, said it will soon develop to let viewers upload their environmental content.
