Fike H.S. Coach Facing Sex Offense Charge

Wilson — A former Fike High School physical education teacher and wrestling coach faces a felony charge of sexual offense and a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the Wilson County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

David Brandon Earp, 33, of Sims, was charged Friday, authorities said. He resigned from the Wilson County Schools on Saturday, the school system said.

The system had hired Earp in August, according to Robert Kendall, the system's public relations director.

The case began after a parent told Fike Principal Steve Ellis of a text message found on a student's cell phone that suggested inappropriate behavior, officials said. Ellis contacted schools Superintendent Larry E. Price.

Price contacted the sheriff's office, but deputies reported Jan.


Three homes burlgarized in Elk Township

ELK TWP., N.J. -- On Jan. 24,three residences in the 700 block of Buck Road were burglarized during the afternoon.

All three were entered by someone who kicked in the door jambs.

Dresser drawers and closets were rummaged through in the master bedrooms of each house.

Items such as jewelry, small safes and a mountain bike were stolen, wiuth an estimated value of $27,541.

The burglar may have been driving a black sport utility vehicle.

"Thank you, Helen, and good afternoon. It's great to be in Queens. Home of Louis Armstrong, Simon & Garfunkel, and the great Count Basie, who wrote my entrance music today 'One O'Clock Jump.' I'm especially glad to be here at the brand-new public pool and ice rink in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. I was hoping to ride in on a Zamboni but I couldn't get it through the Midtown Tunnel.

"Speaker Quinn and members of the City Council, Comptroller Thompson, Public Advocate Gotbaum, Borough Presidents, Mayors Dinkins and Koch. I want to welcome you and all our distinguished guests here today. And I'd like to start by introducing you to some guests of my own. Five special families: the Ramns, who came to New York from Colombia 20 years ago; the Chens, originally from Ningbo, China; the Snreenivasans, originally from Madras, India; the Bias family, who moved here in 1953 from South Carolina; and finally, the Farruggios, who came from Sicily, and are here today with the newest member of their family Sienna born just two weeks ago.
