We want to believe a child raised in the proper environment of love and tolerance can never be taught to hate and murder others. But while we know what cruel poverty and ignorance can do in the life of any child, these are no more reliable predictors of behavior than the child raised in the best of circumstances. Some just seem to be born monsters. We do know the teaching of hatred of those who are "different" by any measure can be taught children; and it is the responsibility of civilized people to avoid this kind of teaching, to root it out wherever it is found. Unfortunately for America the viper of "tolerance" for hatred has allowed for every kind of teaching of hatred for America and Americans to be found throughout our nation, especially in mosques and the inner cities, in jails and prisons where the most converts to Islam are being made.

Delco depot stabbing strands students
The stabbing of a supervisor at the William Penn School District's bus depot yesterday morning left thousands of students without transportation after their buses were cordoned off as part of the crime scene. Robert Dix, 45, the transportation center supervisor at the depot, had been on the job just two weeks when he was stabbed around 6:30 a.m. in the depot parking lot on Main Street near North 9th in Darby Borough, Delaware County, Borough Police Chief Robert Smythe said. Dix, an employee of the Del-Co School Bus Company, which services the depot, was notified of a single broken window on a district bus yesterday morning, Smythe said. When he went to investigate, he was struck first in the head from behind and then stabbed once in the upper left chest while in the parking lot, he said.
Testing proposed for home schoolers
Senator Schimek has a bee in her bonnet about homeschooling that just won't rest. Now, during her swan song as a senator, she's bound to stir up dissension once more - why? Because she can! At least, for only a few more months! One of our children had learned at home for two years before we moved to Lincoln. We looked at the possibility of enrolling our teen in one of the focus high schools. How surprised we were when the English teacher turned her nose up at the fact that our teen had a great understanding of grammar! Neither were we impressed at the movie about the powers of ten that was shown during a SENIOR high math class. One other thing I would like to note - if the calibre of public education is demonstrated in the sentence structure of those who regularly post on these websites, I'll take homeschooling any day! " .
'We've opened the door,' follower of King says
The 81-year-old also touched on the upcoming presidential campaign. "During this election year, I think we ought to change the name of The White House to The Black House," Rogers said, referring to the candidacy of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, a black man vying for the Democratic presidential nomination. Rogers spoke for only five minutes, but Lane College President Wesley C. McClure said his message was poignant. "This tall, great man didn't offer many words, but he said a whole lot," McClure said following Rogers' speech. A few Lane College students echoed McClure's sentiments. "It was an honor to be in his presence," said Mark Rogers, Lane College student body president. "It's always a pleasure to see legends talk about their life stories and roads less traveled." Mark Rogers said he's concerned about the challenges facing his generation, such as young black adults who do not vote, pursuing a college education and standing together for racial equality.

Peabody's Mello proves a consummate teammate
His role is getting us under control at both ends of the floor," Mastrangelo said of Mello, who ranks in the top 10 percent of his class academically. "He's a really good on-the-ball defender. He's had to defend the other team's toughest guards, like Junior Lugo of Salem and Mike Clayton of Beverly. He's gotten big baskets for us and, overall, he's a very intelligent player. "But you know what? Danny would be valuable to us even if he didn't score a single point. He didn't have to come back, but he took his captaincy very seriously." Mello is loving the atmosphere of Peabody's first season in the Northeastern Conference. He cites games against Beverly, Lynn Classical and Salem as examples where the player/crowd intensity really stood out. "We're into it (as players) and I think the crowds are way better (than most Greater Boston League games)," said Mello.
