Burress stands by his upset prediction

I didn't know people still had those after high school. Boston expects them to come back and celebrate. Maybe we'll have them come down and party with us."

When told of Burress' prediction, Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas just shrugged his shoulders.

"One thing I've learned this year more than anything else is none of that matters," Thomas said. "Nothing that you do in the press conference matters. The only thing that matters is how you play on Sunday."

Just 40 feet to Burress' left at media day, Giants coach Tom Coughlin didn't seem pleased about his receiver's comments.

"I was not aware of that," said Coughlin, shaking his head. "We've had a good theme all year, and it hasn't been that. We do our talking on the field."

While the United States House of Representatives moves forward to vote a resolution recognizing the World War I-era killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as "genocide," the Armenian diaspora in Europe have gathered in Brussels for the Convention of European Armenians to call on the European Union to adopt a similar stance.

The second Convention of European Armenians hosted by the Christian Democrat group in the European Parliament marked the 20th anniversary of the European Parliament's first resolution recognizing the Armenian "genocide."

Chairman of the Christian Democrat Group in the parliament, Joseph Daul, and Vice Chairman of the European Commission Franco Frattini addressed the Armenian diaspora at the opening of the two-day convention.

Truman's daughter also was author, singer

Margaret Truman Daniel wasn't one to brag about having lived in the White House.

She didn't even mention that her father, Harry Truman, once was president to her son until the boy stomped home from school one day and, with his hands on his hips, demanded to know, "Mom, did you know that Grandpa Truman had been president of the United States?"

Salmond ‘putting Trump golf plan in danger’

Government officials have insisted the that ministerial code of conduct has not been broken.

Ms Goldie yesterday accused the First Minister of being "evasive and obstructive" when questioned during First Minister's Questions at Holyrood on Thursday.

She added: "If the First Minister's conduct or the actions of his government and his officials have in any way prejudiced the planning process and put at risk the outcome by opening it up to challenge, then the Scottish Government is culpable.

"So far, this has been a tale of denial, cover-up and evasion. If this application fails, and Scotland loses this billion-pound investment, the Scottish Government will only have itself to blame."

Meanwhile, the war of words continued yesterday between the SNP and Nicol Stephen, leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, who told Mr Salmond on Thursday that there was "smell of sleaze" about the affair.

Pauley Pavilion's renovation plan

That phase, according to sources, has been pushed back until fall 2008.

It is also the latest change in plans, but not the first. In discussing the financial aspect of renovating Pauley Pavilion in August 2003, UCLA senior associate director of business operations Ken Weiner said "if we do it all, it may be $40 million." UCLA is now looking at a much more expansive, and expensive, renovation with a price tag close to $120 million.

In May 2005, Guerrero said UCLA should begin "to develop a funding strategy" and begin a fundraising campaign "in the latter part of this year."

And once the plan does go public and a timetable is established for the renovation, plans for the teams that play in Pauley Pavilion must be set.

According to athletic department sources, most of the teams will likely play at the Wooden Center.
